What is VR sickness?

Ever since the Oculus Rift came out, people have been complaining about the sickness, aka VR sickness, that is caused by its use. VR sickness is when your eyes are telling your brain that you are moving, but your body is not. If you are playing a VR game, there are two ways for this to happen.

One is that your head moves, but your body doesn't.

The other is that your head stays still, but the environment moves around you.

I'm not sure VR is good for games.

Video game designer Cliff Bleszinski once said, "I'm not sure VR is good for games." He was referring to the virtual reality game that is played while wearing a headset that completely blocks out the real world. Bleszinski thinks that VR games will make people sick. Not everyone suffers motion sickness, but for the games that do: here is a list of 5 VR games that don’t cause motion sickness.

Keep talking and nobody explodes

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a VR game that is about defusing bombs. Your friends in VR are there to help you, but they can't see what you see. You talk to them, and they tell you how to defuse the bombs using the manual.

GAZZLERS

GAZZLERS is a VR shooter where you try to survive an epic journey through post-apocalyptic wastelands, fight many unique enemies and build crazy weapons! We had the chance to try it yet (it's coming out in May) and it was one of the best VR experiences we've ever had.

Superhot VR

Superhot VR is a first-person shooter game that is set in a virtual world where time moves only when the player moves. The graphics are in an isometric view, and the player sees a graphical representation of themselves and a room full of enemies. The player can move around the room, and when they do, the enemies in the room move as well. The player can then punch or shoot the enemies in the room, and the timer will stop for a few seconds, allowing the player to plan their next move.

Half-Life: Alyx

The game Half-Life: Alyx is a first-person shooter game for the PC. Set before the events of Half-Life 2, the game follows Alyx Vance as she joins rebel forces in an effort to destroy the Combine’s “turret” force.

Star Trek Bridge Crew

Star Trek Bridge Crew is a virtual reality video game based on the popular Star Trek television series and movies. The game is designed for a team of four people, and tasks players to do a variety of tasks while commanding a starship. These tasks include movement, scanning planets, going to warp speed, and avoiding attacks. The game is set up similarly to the show, with players assuming the role of the captain, the helmsman, the engineer, or the tactical officer. Players can also have cross-platform multiplayer, enabling them to team up with people of the same console rather than just on the same network.

Trumble

Tumble is a 3D puzzle game that can be played by up to four people. The object is to use the remote to stack blocks on top of one another in order to get them to the top of the screen. The game features 6 different worlds, each with its own unique challenges.

Motion sickness: conclusion
